Since its launch in 2000, The Trust's International Music Scholarship Program has supported more than 107 talented musicians, singers and conductors with over $1,500,000 to further their development abroad. The initiative is unique in that there are no restrictions on the applicant's age, gender, background, or eligibility to apply for further assistance in the future. It is the view of The Trust that it should stand by and support, when practical, a scholar's musical development for life.
Musicians have received awards for chamber music, orchestral and solo study in over 20 countries.
See 'Scholars' for more information.
In 2018 HD Duo will be undertaking a new ambitious cross-cultural project that will focus on composers of the Commonwealth. The ultimate aim is to commission, perform and record one composition from each of the 53 countries represented in the Commonwealth. This initial project will be documented by video and focus on the collaboration with six premiere composers from six countries. Each composer will be commissioned a ten minute chamber work for saxophone and piano that will be workshopped, premiered, toured and recorded for a CD. The duo will be performing in: Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Malta, Cyprus and Sri Lanka.
